Cloning working copy of GitLab project using SmartGit. Git repository can be cloned by selecting Clone. FromRepository menu. Fill out URI, which is a url to repository as given in email.

When cloning first repository, SmartGit asks for master password. Masterpassword is used to encrypt passwords used with Git, if they are stored.However it is also possible to not store passwords, so in that casemaster password is not necessary. If master password is not used, passwordsare stored in plain text. Fill out authentication information.
Select where repository will be stored. Cloning was successfull and new repository is now available.
When you clone, push and pull any file to your repository, your Git client will prompt you for your username and password.git clone feature “ remember my credentials” might not be implemented by your git client.The current workaround is to include your username and/or password in the url.If your repository is located at:You can include your username in the url:git clone password can also be included in the url.
